Summertime

Mum's garden is giving us an abundant supply of vegtables. . . . and we love pickles so. . . let's can pickles!

For boys, I guess the exciting part is the way you pack your pickles.  We keep telling him he's gonna be an engineer!  

Dad has been on vacation for the past two weeks so he has been getting those jobs done that are like 10 years overdue.  I asked Dad how much this stone (or whatever you want to call it) weighed and he said it is around 1000 lbs!  Ya, and it was in the back of our one ton van.

6 ft long.  This stone was put in front of our fireplace downstairs.

I'm not sure if anybody can guess where I took this pic.

Dad also replaced our wooden front door step with a sturdy stone step. Pretty sturdy!

Landscaping and bulldozing

Ever since I can remember my Grandpa Whalen has been moving dirt and landscaping his land into a beautiful and efficient place.

The other night I took a quick walk and this is what I found.

I found Jeremiah sitting quietly on the tractor watching his Grandpa bulldoze away.

Jared's Last Stand

When it came to Jared's attention that there was a closed trucker's stand on 170, he jumped at the opportunity to open it up again and serve the many truckers that pass by there every day.

     Since it was to open the 18th of June he decided to invite everyone over last Sunday night so the cook could have a chance to get the feel of things and we could try out the menu and give any tips.  These pics are from Sunday night.   Many things have been changed and slowly but surely  they are becoming a more efficient business.

Levi's Birthday Party

We got to celebrate Levi's birthday last Thursday.

We had cake and ice-cream while Levi opened his gifts.

Of course we had to have some fun playing the piano too. :)

Survival!

Levi wanted to celebrate his birthday by having his friends over for a camp out. 

They killed a rabbit and ate it.

They slept in a log cabin type structure.

They went hunting, swimming, and other random things that boys enjoy doing.   All went well and no one came away with a serious injury!
